Content briefs for AI citability

A briefing template for writers and merchandisers so every page ships with extractable answers AI systems can quote.

Updated 2026-07-19

Most “AI content” fails because the brief asked for words, not answers.

Brief template (copy/paste)

  • Target prompt(s) from /ask (exact wording)
  • Owner URL (collection / PDP / education) — one primary
  • Direct answer (2–4 sentences)
  • Proof bullets (specs, tests, constraints)
  • Who it’s for / not for
  • Internal links to 3 PDPs
  • FAQ (3–5), mark which get FAQPage schema
  • Claims to avoid (legal/compliance)
  • Success metric — prompt mention rate, not word count

Editorial rules

  • Facts in HTML
  • No “ChatGPT” keyword theater in H1s on commercial pages
  • Prefer tables for comparisons
  • Update dates when facts change

Handoff to tech
