## Methodology

TopMention runs a fixed panel of real shopper prompts for a product category across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini. Share of voice is the share of answers that mention the brand. Technical audits check AI crawler access (robots.txt), llms.txt, Product/Organization schema, and ChatGPT Shopping feed signals (GTIN, price, availability) on Shopify stores.

Full scans use a 40-prompt panel; free scans use a 10-prompt subset. The same prompts are reused over time so movement reflects real change.

## Crawler

TopMentionBot/1.0 (+https://topmention.ai/bot) fetches public store pages only when a merchant requests a scan. It respects robots.txt and does not access logged-in or paywalled content.
